Birth, Boobs & Cry it Out!!
Recently on my Facebook feed I've seen multiple articles written by fabulous writers championing various birthing methods, feeding methods and parenting methods.
Which, yes I know, by the end you'll be saying "if you don't care so much why'd you write this". Today is my day of meditation and reflection and I couldn't get my zen on.
I can't help but think why in Frigga's name would I ever care how your child exited your body or the body of the woman who carried them, how you fed them for the first year then how you chose to raise them?
Why is it that moms, women & some dads feel the need to leap down each other's throats?
Yes the manner in which a child enters a family's life is a monumental occasion. And should be celebrated!!
But it does not define you as a parent, nor the child. What matters is what comes afterwards. How you handle their first friendship break up, or a major transition in life like a death in the family, moving houses, gain or loss of employment. Or what life choices your hold makes given the circumstances and baseline moral compass you've given them.
Currently my thought process is that if Ivy League Universities & workplaces start making it a requirement that the human they're considering be birthed a certain way, fed a certain way for the first 6 years of life and then only a select few styles of parenting.
THEN and only then will I give a flying fuck about your birth choices, whether or not you breastfed and how you parented.
The small exception being unassisted and assisted home births in the U.S. Midwifery is a joke and a major crapshoot and statistically it's a giant game of "who's going to die". But that's just me reiterating hundreds of research papers based on peer reviewed unbiased sources.
There, I feel better.
Edit:
Alternatively. If you had a home birth and feel the need to say it. You're welcome to take a judgement cookie and then tell your children you love them. I would assume that's a thing you do daily.
