How am I not in labor yet?!

At my doc appointment today i was told I'm at about 4cm dilated and got my membranes stripped but here I am still pregnant and all. I've had a couple light contractions but nothing really at all. Still praying I go tonight. I have extra amniotic fluid too so water was supposidely more likely to break But So far nothing. But I have been having stomach aches all day on and off. Come on baby!

My friend was four cms for four weeks.

I went into labor with contractions a minute apart. I was one cm when I checked into the hospital and four cms an hour later. Dilation means very little if you aren't in labor.

How many weeks/days are you? I will be 38 weeks on Friday. I was 2 cm dilated last week and am hoping that when I go to my OB tomorrow she will tell me I'm even more now! Im so ready for this baby!

How far along do you have to be before they keep you at the hospital? Where i live if your at a 4 you have to go to the hospital, they consider it too far along to be at home

Had my 39 week checkup today and still 2 cm dilated but the cervix is soft, he still needs to drop. Let's go baby boy any day now!

Stomach pains could be contractions. Write down how close they are and how long they last. Gently push on top part of uterus during pains and if it's hard, it's a contraction. Call doc for further advice, if so.

With my first I was at a 4 for 2 weeks. I had my 40 week check on a Friday morning, was a 4, she did membrane sweep (had tried at 38&39 too and didn't work). Saturday morning I lost plug and started labor at 730am. I got to hospital at 430/5pm and after 10 hrs of intense contractions at home I was still a 4. They were on phone with Dr at 7pm because I hadn't progressed still and were gonna send me home but my water broke right then. At that point I shot from 4 to 10 within an hour.

Just sharing to let you know it's totally unpredictable and to remind myself as I am super frustrated after today's appt too, only being 1cm + 10% 😕

I was 4cm for two weeks and 5cm for another week before finally going into labor. So bizarre!
