Should I wake my baby?
This is going to sound absolutely horrible, but we had an accident tonight. My boyfriend had foot surgery today, and I set my 2 1/2 month old down on the couch, leaned in the corner of the back and the arm rest, like I've done a hundred times before with no problem. I helped my boyfriend down onto the couch, and got a little blood on my hands from putting the pillows back under his leg. I went to the kitchen to wash them quickly, and I heard a thump. My baby had somehow managed to roll off the couch and onto the hardwood.
She's never rolled over before (or even tried), and only just this week starting being able to hold her head up during tummy time. She's never moved from that position before and we have no idea how she did it. I felt terrible. I rushed her to the ER in tears, so please don't make me feel worse than I do.
The doctor said there was no damage to her skull, and by the time he saw her, she was smiling, cooing, and he said all vitals looked good. She was eating, not vomiting and besides a small bruise on her forehead, there was no indication that she had fallen, and the doctor reassured me that it was no reason for concern.
Something I forgot to ask him though, was if I should wake her during the night. She usually sleeps 10-12 hours, and he might have assumed she was on a more average sleep pattern for a baby her age. I know he said all looked good, but I'm worried! Should I wake her in a few hours, or just let her sleep?
