Umbilical cord stem cells - yes or no?

Maria

Hello everyone! I'm due in March and I've been hearing a lot about the benefits of collecting umbilical cord stem cells at birth. I'm a bit divided.

On the one hand, I want to do everything I can to keep my baby safe and I feel that as a former child cancer survivor, this is definitely something I should consider.

As things stand, these cells are already being used to treat certain blood and immune systems diseases, as well as other inherited diseases.

But on the other hand, it's a very expensive procedure and it would represent a very significant sacrifice (especially since the baby's father is unreliable... at best).

Would love to hear your opinion or anyone's experience on the matter.

Thank you!
