Unreasonable?

SO wants to go home to shower during the 3 days I'll be in the hospital. We live 2 minutes from the hospital by car. It doesn't seem like a crazy request but...this is my first baby.... I'm 21 and the closest family or friends that we have is 8 hours away. It'll just be us at the hospital. I just need emotional support...and he takes like hour long showers. Am I being unreasonable? I'm just really scared and can't see why he can't shower in the hospital room.

I understand you wanting him to be there, but if you had the chance to shower in your own bathroom you totally would to. You guys are going to be bored senseless there and you will be sleeping as much as you can. It probably will not be as crazy as you think having him gone for an hour or so.

Let the man go home and shower. He may want some alone time. Hospital life is a crazy life. Getting woke up every 2 hours, a new baby means a new life. Start off on a good foot

It might not just be about showering. Maybe he expects he'll need a short break to decompress so he can be the most supportive and helpful person possible for you. It's okay to want to get away for a little while to process the huge life change he's experiencing too. Based on what friends and my brother have said, men don't really GET what's happening until baby is born. They haven't been feeling the kicks from inside and been carrying the child for all the months so it hits them all at once when they see their child for the first time.

Unfortunately yes I think you are being a bit unreasonable unless something crazy happens during delivery you should be fine for a bit each day alone.

After giving birth, you will most likely want some time to rest and be alone anyways! You will be worn out and tired. This will give him a chance to think and let it sink in that he's a dad now!!

Yea I think you are a little bit. 
You have to stay but there's no reason he needs to be cooped up. Especially since the house is so close. 
I have to stay about 2 days Minimum and I've already told my husband if he wants to shower at home or go on food runs or whatever that's fine with me. We will just be sitting around the whole time anyway, unless baby is crying.

Be lucky that's all it is my hubby won't be staying with us in the hospital he'll be coming home every night to sleep now that Is worth getting upset over but what am i suppose to do the man can't stand hospitals he'll be there during the day and leave at night.

While my husband would shower at the hospital, he isn't going to be just thrilled about it... Some people don't like not using their own shower... I don't see anything wrong with it and I live 25 mins from the hospital I'm delivering at.
