Ovulation/bleeding

This week is my week for ovulating and I've been having slight twinges or cramps in my side, some more painful than others. Then discovered that I'm bleeding. It's not super heavy to need a tampon or anything but it's still enough to seem like the start of my  menstrual cycle? Any ideas on what this is? I'm thinking of setting up an appointment to make sure everything is okay. My DH and I are trying for our 1st and I want to make sure nothing terrible is happening.
