Dropped diaper rash cream on front of baby's diaper

I was getting ready to put the diaper rash cream away and was talking to/smiling at my baby. I accidentally dropped the tube of cream right on the front of his diaper and he cried. Could I have seriously hurt his privates? He stopped crying as soon as I picked him up and they look fine. Also not bothering him if they are touched. I obviously checked it out to make sure there was no sign of injury. He is 3 weeks old.
