Flue shot?

What are your thoughts on getting the flu shot while pregnant? I am personally not a fan in general and do not get it but now that I am pregnant I'm debating if I should get it.

Nope. The flu shot doesn't cover all strains of the flu. It only covers the strains they think will be the most prevalent that year. They are often wrong. Which is why you hear so many people saying they got the flu despite having the flu shot. There is no live virus in it, so the shot itself won't give you the flu. The flu shot formula changes every year, so how can it be proven to be safe, who knows if the formula this year won't cause an issue down the road. So no, I never get the flu shot and 1000% will not get it while pregnant. I would rather just make sure to use universal precautions to prevent exposure in the first place, it has always worked for me in the past.

My on told me that me And my hubby need to get the flu and whooping cough vaccines before baby is born

I was resistant  at first but got it when I found out it no longer has the live virus in it . I didn't get sick or have had any side effects from it.

I try to get the flu shot almost every year and I never have any problems. My son is 5 and also gets it every year and never has any problems. I feel that you should do what you feel is best for you and your family. I wish you ladies the best!

My inlaws will be here three weeks after baby is born. That will be about Mid-december and they will be going through 3-4 airports to get here. So even though I never get the flu shot, I'm getting it at my next appointment because if there is even a chance that it will help keep her safe from all those germs then I'll do it.

I've never had the flu but I got it this time because now I have 2 school age kids, and I really didn't want to be in the hospital. I had a good talk with my doc. She told me the risks. I'm still worried that I didn't make the right decision. Best of luck on your decision.
