"Be interested in your own people"

I don't think I'm boy crazy.  There a just a lot of guys that I think are handsome and want to get to know them, but that doesn't mean I like them.  But should I only like guys of a certain program?  At my high school there are several programs, one being the music program and another being the "regular" program ( communication arts). My sister happens to be in the music program.  And I'm in communication arts.  Anyway, i happen to think a couple of guys in the music program are cute and since she knows them, I like to discuss them with her. And today she told me to "find somebody in communication arts to like" as if we people are lesser, as if the music kids are better and shouldn't associate with us. Idk, it just really hurt my feelings and makes me think that all the music kids think that way.
