contractions after birth?

I just read your contractions don't stop right after you give birth and it's your bodies way of preventing major blood loss. I never really thought about it before! How long do they last? Do they still hurt badly after birth? Any information on this would be great!!

Yes contractions can continue the whole 6-8 weeks of pp bleeding.. Its just your uterus going back down to size. Its more just a crampy feeling but since you're already so sore from giving birth, exhausted from having a newborn, and busy trying to learn how to adjust to having a newborn that its nothing you really notice. Usually the hospital gives you some prescription tylenol to help with the pain.

I only felt them straight after birth i thought wtf iv given birth why am i still gettin contractions!!!! Lol but after around 10 mins it totally stopped xx
