Anyone ever feel guilty for being a stay at home mom?

I lost my job over a year ago and have had trouble finding a new one. I feel guilty because my husband has to take care of me and the kids. (I have two kids from a previous relationship) Anybody in the same situation that can give advice?

Nope.. It's something we both discussed prior to marriage. We were both raised with moms who stayed at home...wouldn't want it any other way! Plus he doesn't have to clean or do anything besides lawn work. So he's good with that!

I won't feel bad about it, but I can see how it might feel different if it's not "his" kids that he's taking care of and it wasn't in the original plan.

My husband does talk about wanting me to work and get a good job but I don't think he realizes how much things are going to change once the baby gets here(I currently work part time, but won't once the baby comes).

Yes, every day even after 4 years. I was so used to working and having my own money, to have to take cash from my husband kills me every day

I am struggling with this now! I had to quit my job a year ago because I was deathly sick and they were awful to me. I love being able to stay home with my kids and appreciate my husband so much for working so hard for us but most days I feel guilty because I'm not bringing any money in. I feel like my only contribution as far as our finances is I breast feed and cloth diaper to save money. My husband and I just talked tonight about me going back to work but at this point in time it's just not worth it.

You shouldn't feel guilty as every situation is different and being a two parent working household doesn't suit everyone. I mean I'm going back to work but part time as we wouldn't have the life we would want if only one of us was working and i earn more than what childcare would cost so it makes sense to go back but that's not the case for all as well as some people just like being a stay at home mum and that's great too

Yes!i always worked and went to school full time. My last job offered free tuition so I earned my second masters while working full time. My employer had to lay 100 people off and I couldn't find a job- with two masters- one in IT. We started our family and now have one son and I'm 5w3d. I feel bad my husband works hard to keep us comfortable. He's always putting in overtime- and his job is very dangerous right now. 😥
