comfort nursing. does it get faster??

LO is 8 weeks and I was advised by doctor from Day one not to allow comfort nursing. I decided recently to screw that advice and let her nurse on demand. She loves it, does it ALL THE TIME, and takes FOREVER. Does it get quicker? I am nervous for when I go back to work.

Comfort nursing is not nursing on demand. Two different things. Nursing on demand is feeding baby when baby is hungry, not on a schedule. Comfort nursing is just sucking for comfort, not eating, same thing as when baby has a paci. So no it won't get "quicker". If you don't want to babe to comfort nurse, use a paci! Babies have a natural need to suck to comfort so it's very normal.

Pacis also reduce SIDS!

In my experience comfort nursing does decrease with time. You can go ahead and introduce a binky so they have another option for non nutritive sucking. 
I would have ignored that advice as well. It's not medical advice and so not what a doctor is for.

All my kids have comfort nursed. It's totally natural and normal. My first basically had to be sucking nonstop for the first few months. It did eventually end. I promise.
