any anti-epidural mamas??

I really don't want to have an epidural when i give birth. Any mamas with positive advice and stories?

If you want to avoid an epidural do NOT let them put you on pitocin. It makes contractions like 100 times more intense and painful (I had pitocin and eventually an epidural with my first and neither with my second). If they induce or augment you with pitocin you will be in agony.

I had one with my first. But I was also having a lot of other issues. I am hoping that this pregnancy will go a lot smoother and I can do with out!! You can do it!! Just stay positive and remember the pain won't last forever!! And make sure who ever is in the room with you understands your limits. Like I know I will try and but if it's too much pain, my husband will know and will ask for me. But not on the first time I ask. lol sometimes I think I can't handle as much pain as I actually can. So do sum up this long comment... pain doesn't last forever, you are stronger than you think, and make sure the person that is in the room with you is on the same page!!! You can do it! Good luck!

I really didn't either but i was induced and made it to 8 cm and wanted to keep going but a Voice in my head said you need it. I caved and boy am I glad because I ended up witb a forceps birth my son was face up and huge he made a tear along the entire left side of my rectum and I had to be cut from my vagina to my rectum and it took 30-40 minutes to sew my nether regions back into separate holes so I'm glad I got it. I think natural birth is a wonderful thing and I definitely plan to try again next time. I plan to try relaxation music and a birthing ball next time

I've had 5 kids only 1 without epidural and that was because I was to far into labor. My advice get the epidural! It was the worst pain ever!
