would it be weird if...

I worked as kinder garden teacher and I looked after a little girl which I formed this close bond.. it was like if she was my little niece or something like that... i left that workplace and now I was thinking of trying to look up her parents on facebook and invite her to my niece's birthday party..? But i feel like maybe her parents will find it weird? Im not sure.. what do you think?
