Baby shower for second time mom?

It's five years between my first and my second. My mom says I shouldn't have a baby shower bc it's my second child. I feel that there's such a gap between them that it would be okay plus it's welcoming a new baby. I don't need the big things this go around like bed and stuff but I didn't keep all the clothes and bibs and small things! What do y'all think?

baby showers are to celebrate the life of the baby. Not the presents, so yes! I'm not having one this time, but thats because I got pregnant when my daughter was 3 months old so no one will actually come. But if its been a few years, go for it!

Look, I HATE, no, I LOATHE when people try to justify why someone doesn't deserve a second, third, fourth, etc. baby shower. To me, a baby shower is a time to gather around and CELEBRATE the new little life about to enter the world. Pregnancy is a beautiful thing and your body is doing something amazing. You are creating life! I see a shower as a celebration of this baby. Yes, guests bring gifts, but to me, how hard is that? Bring a freaking $2 pack of paci's or a $6 outfit from Walmart. How hard is that?! I bet every guest even spends money on shit they don't need, (cable, movies, going out to eat, that new sweater that was so cute at the store, etc). Yet they will get vent out of shape about celebrating a new baby coming to the world. Have a damn baby shower. Your baby deserves it!! Screw what people think. If they're going to be jerks about it, then they don't have to go! I went to all four of my friends baby shower, back to back boys, and I showed up with gifts in hand and love in my heart to each one because I LOVE her and LOVE the new babies joining the world. Thats what a shower is about to me.

I was struggling with the same thing with my 2nd. Thankfully,  my in laws threw me a surprise shower so I didnt think anything of it. But I have read about calling it a "sprinkle " and since you dont need the big things, people can bring small items, or make it a diaper party!

you can always call it a sprinkle! then people will feel more comfortable bringing what they can, and it's more about celebrating you and baby.

I know people who have baby showers with a year apart. I think you should have one this is my first child and I am not having one and it's been such a struggle to buy everything we need I would of loved one but no one offered. But you should just do it :)

Only reason I'm having one is because I didn't get one with my first. They're also 7 years apart. I think 5 years is enough. Maybe a sprinkle would be appropriate?! It's really up to you!

My two are going to be 5 years apart and I am having a shower. 😊 plus I'm having a girl this time and I have a boy.
