Weird irregular periods

So for the past 2 months my periods have been irregular they been a day late and on the first day it's been just spotting and then on the second day it's been like a normal period. Then after the second day it's very light again until it goes off on day 6. I never had spotting before in my life and the only time I've ever been late it was when I was actually pregnant with my son. Has anyone ever experienced this before?
