will you not allow your kids to like something because you dont?

example: my boyfriend's mom absolutely HATES Winnie the Pooh. not sure why, but she does. and because of that she never allowed any of her kids to have anything to do with Winnie the pooh because she hated it that much. I thought it was a little strange, and then I wondered if maybe I only thought it strange because my parents were never like that. sure they didn't like a lot of the things we liked but they never denied us to be able to have those things or watch those shows because of it. so what about you? do you/will you not allow your children to like something because you dont like it? and obviously I'm talking about age appropriate things.
