Vomiting virus...

There is a vomiting virus going around (as there always is) but we just found out a friend has it and our kids were playing together. My question is can the virus be spread through their child (who hasn't vomited but coughed which is how the mom's started) to our child? They share toys and my son likes to put his hands in his mouth.
