stupid question...catheter with epidural?

Do they put a catheter in if you get an epidural? I think I'm more scared of an epidural then I am of actual child birth

Yes they do, but they take it out before you push

Yes catheter, if you're numb from the belly button down, you can't tell if your bladder is full or not. They took it out when it was time to push, but told me they would have to put it back in if I didn't pee enough on my own after delivery (which is hard because you're still numb for several hours) , but thankfully I was able to go.

At first, they did not put one in but I wasn't making much progress. Turns out my bladder was full (I was numb and had no idea, nor can you walk to the bathroom) which was stopping my baby dropping further.  As soon as the catheter was in, I dilates to 9 cm in a matter of 30 minutes from 5 cm (I think).  I do not remember when it was removed.

I had a catheter in with my first child but for some reason with my second they did a straight cath , which is a catheter they come in and put in , empty your bladder then take it out. I hated it. I was afraid i was going to pee the bed the whole time.
