Overfeeding breastfed baby??

I took my son to the pediatrician for an unrelated matter and after weighing him the pediatrician told me that I'm overfeeding my son. She is exclusively breastfed and I've been feeding on demand usually between two and four hours between feedings and he eats anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes on average about 7 or 8 minutes. He was born at 7 pounds at his one-month checkup he was 9.2 pounds and when I took them at 6 weeks because of a lump on his chest he was 10 pounds 3 ounces. I was under the assumption you can't overfeed a breastfed baby but the doctor now has me questioning whether I feeding my son too much or not

It's not possible to overfeed a breastfed baby, and you can't make a baby obese on breast milk. Any lactation consultant will tell you that; your pediatrician may not be that knowledgable about breastfeeding. Make sure the dr is charting your baby's growth on the growth chart for breastfed babies: it's different than the chart for formula fed babies.

Don't listen to them. Listen to your baby and his/her needs. My son was born 9.9lbs, at one month weighed 12.2lbs. Pretty sure he is about 14 now. What matters is that he is happy and his needs are met. I pump and supplement.

My son was born 7lb 8oz, at 4 weeks he was 9lb 2oz and the doctor kept asking if I feed him enough. He grew 3 inches in 4 weeks, he clearly isn't starving. I think some doctors, especially some of the older ones, don't realize ebf babies grow differently sometimes. My in laws keep harping on me saying I'm not feeding him enough. Babies at this age should gain about 1/2lb a week.

My son was born at 7 lbs as well and at our one month checkup he was 10 lbs 6 oz! I'm exclusively bf and feeding on demand as well, Our doctor was shocked but said we are doing great!

My son was 8.8 at birth and now weighs 16.0 at 2 months.  She hasn't said he is over weight???

I would get a new pediatrician. Breastfed babies gain weight differently. Example. They gain all their weight in the first half of their first year while formula fed babies gain in the second half of the year. My first son was o er 20lbs before he was 7 months old. Was about 24 lbs at 10 months. Once he started walking at 11 months his weight gain stopped. He was breastfeed till he was 13 months. He is now 17 months and is 29 lbs.

My second son was born at 8lbs 6 oz. at his 1 month check up he was 10lbs 6 oz. He is now 7 weeks old and I'm not sure of his weight but I couldn't imagine it less than 11.5 lbs.

My daughter is ebf and I feed on demand. She came into this world at 7lbs 11oz and at 7 weeks is a lovely, healthy 12lbs (almost 13).

Babies all grow differently.

I would get a different doctor that sounds crazy to me, my son is 5 weeks and he's 11lbs 11oz born at 8lbs 7oz. The docs told me it's beautiful weight gain!

That's stupid! My daughter is 6 weeks and weighs 11 lbs. She was 7.4 at birth. Don't listen, maybe get a new doctor. Babies even out when they start crawling anyway.
