Security for apartment?

Over the last few months I have become extremely paranoid abour someone getting into my apartment and hurting me or my baby. I'm wondering if there's any security system or anything to make me feel more at ease so I can actually sleep amd not have to stand watch all night

I have adt. The only time I shut it off is when my spouse is at home. Once he leave the alarm goes on.

Bf is looking into buying a gun. I've been having terrible thoughts about someone breaking in. In my building there's a few new tenants and they seem a little sketchy.

The best approach is to make sure no intruders can get in or would even want to break in.
Make sure all points of egress are sound (doors, windows) = nothing loose, the frame is in good repair, that it would be very hard to break in from the outside. Make sure your exterior doors have deadbolts/dead stops and that all entry points with a sliding window/door are properly braced from the inside (it looks ugly but in a pinch, you can use a cured piece of hardwood). Never leave any open or unlocked window/door unattended and invest in security cameras with night vision. Make sure that your perimeter cameras are visible so people know they are there. Since you're in an apartment, I would recommend a video intercom that you can check away from the entrance I.e. On your phone/in a location away from the front door.

It's a personal choice as to what you would like to do in regards to the inside of your home. I'm not a fan of guns in a home with children but no matter what, do have a plan for barricading while you wait for help (should you not be able to exit).

Well I have a safe full of guns so I feel perfectly safe. And I know how to use every one of them.  And 120lb mastiff to notify me if anyone even gets close to our house.

I prefer the small pistol. Understanding you can't keep it locked away to be safe but there are hiding boxes and keeping things up high with safety on is how I do it. My older kid knows how to use it if she were home alone. Shooting range is your friend 😂 .... Also the dog idea is good. Even the smallest Chihuahua sound an alarm for intruders.

Don't live in an apartment.

We bought handguns when we purchased our house. even though we live in a nice area it is still nice to have one. It previously had adt installed(dont have it set up) and it beeps everytime a door or window opens. So if that ever goes off, we will just grab our gun.

It's a normal feeling all new moms go through. You are more aware of your surroundings now than you were before. If you can afford a security system that would be your best bet. I know people are saying guns but they won't protect you unless your sleeping with one under your pillow. Intruders won't wait for you to go to your safe so you can grab your gun.

My grandma has vivant she has sensors on her windows a sensor in her living room and a camera in the living room and second bedroom her monthly bill is $80 she can access the cameras from her phone and arm and disarm the alarm from her phone and recently got a doorbell (one time $190 charge) that has a camera and when someone rings the door bell a video of who's at the door pops up on the security panel, also she likes to leave her front door open for the breeze and everytime someone walks in or out the door bell makes its little noise and you get an alert on your phone
