With separated parents when I child turns a certain again (it varies by state) the child is allowed to make the choice for themselves on which parent they want to live with as long as both parents are fit. Would the same apply in an open adoption? What I mean is if an older child would decided they wanted to go live with the parents that adopted them out as a child permanently. Would the child have any legal right to say this to a judge and make it happen if the birth parents wanted it to ?
