help me get my bf back before my birthday

Me and my boyfriend have been on and off for 3 years, at the minute we are off, but it's killing me because I just want him back, but I'm not sure if I even want the relationship anymore, I just want him as my friend, I love him more than words can explain, and he means the world to me, he is going through a lot and I just want to be there for him! He's very stubborn and being a bit mean to me at the minute saying he doesn't care and all this, but he says that everytime and we still end up back together! But it's my birthday in 26 days and I want us to make up before then, because I hate not being with him or not being friends with him on my birthday! So any ideas on how to get him to make friends with me or us to get back together again quickly?! Need lots of help!
