Gender Reveal cakes anyone?!

So we finally got to see the doctor today after a 4 week wait. They said I was 12 weeks exactly by the ultrasound. And gave me the choice to pay 50$ to see the baby's gender at 16 weeks so of course we made the appointment immediately. And, even though we are impatient to find out this will be our last and we wanted to do a few cute things, one of them being a Gender Reveal Cake. Any ladies do this as well? If so how did the cake turn out and how did you set it up with the bakery without finding out baby's gender before the party?

I was going to have one made to reveal the gender to my family. All of the good bakeries around where I live wanted me to place an order 4 weeks in advance. I was too impatient to wait 19 weeks to find out the sex then keep my lips zipped for 4 more weeks! Haha we got a helium take for 20 bucks at Walmart, some black baloons and cut up pink streamers for confetti. Filled the black baloons with the confetti and helium and let everyone in the family line up and pop one at the same time. The confetti exploads out of them. It was super fun and cheap. It was kind of messy but totally worth it.

Well, before we went to the Ultrasound to find out the gender, we stopped by the store and bought one of those big orange envelopes. At the ultrasound before anything I kindly asked the tech to put everything in the envelope because the gender was suppose to be a surprise. Of course we saw everything but when it came to 'the private parts' she made us turn away and close our eyes. My sister in law was in charge of the Gender Reveal Party. So Afterwards, we quickly stopped by my sister in laws house and dropped off the envelope. I didn't want any of us to be tempted to peek inside lol. She couldn't decide so she did both the cake and box full of balloons. It's a BOY by the way!! 💙

You can ask the tech to write the gender down and seal it in an envelope. Just set up with the bakery what style of cake etc and let them know you will bring a sealed envelope with the gender. OR I have heard others that have a trusted person/family member that comes to the ultrasound and the tech tells them and that person arranges everything with the bakery

We found out the gender at 20 weeks for sure, and also did a cake. I am personally not into sheet cakes or American style cakes, so we went with a Chinese style cake.
 
I asked them to make the whipped creme center blue as we were having a boy ☺️

I did this with my second pregnancy. Found out around Christmas time that's why the colors and presents (: my husband knew prior to the party cause he's a but and snuck a peek at the envelope but I had no idea. It was fun. Our cake was made at Walmart, the did a pretty good job if you ask me. (:
