Lost a tiny piece of mucus plug

I know it isn't a good indication of labor, but it is the most progress I've made, so I'm naturally excited!! But like I said, it was very tiny like a booger (sorry!!) I am 38w3d, so I doubt it will regenerate... I've also been having more intense contractions, but not regularly. I just hope labor is near!!! Any similar experiences? Or when do you usually lose the rest of your plug once it starts to separate? I know every pregnancy is different. But you can't blame a ftm for being so anxious!!!!!!!
