I know for me they had a chair that turned into a pull out couch for my husband.

My hospital allows any 1 partner to stay 24/7 with myself and allows them to be with the baby at all times as well. So if the nurse takes the baby for his first bath, he can go with the baby. I wouldn't use the hospital if they made him leave. I'd feel too uncomfortable.

My hospital does allow my husband aka "dad" to stay. They also don't consider him one of the visitors so when we are allowed 4 visitors, we can have 4 extra people in the room to visit if we want.

Here in Australia if you're in the public system they aren't allowed to stay the night but can ignore the visiting hours. I think it's different if you manage to get a room to yourself. If you go through the private system he can stay the night. I guess you'd want that extra perk if you had to pay to have your baby.

My hospital allows husband to stay overnight under the head midwife's discretion, so she may or may not allow it. Anyway...it's a very uncomfy reclinable chair and I'd much rather he goes home and gets a good rest since I'd need him to be fresh and awake to help out the next day.

Sadly not where I live - husbands and support partners can only be there during active labor or visiting hours at my hospital. It makes me very nervous to be alone so much. I'm hoping for a non-complicated delivery and early discharge.

Yes. Who ever your support person is, is definitely allowed to stay until you get discharged. I believe it's just no kids allowed to stay over night, unless your hospital allows it. I had my mil and sil stay with me with my first because my husband was away on deployment.

My husband did last time but this time we have a 6 year old daughter. We have plenty of friends and family to stay with her but I want to keep as much normalcy in her life as possible to make this transition easier so he will bring me breakfast in the morning, lunch, and then bring our daughter in with him for dinner and stay until it's herbed time.
