Birth Classes:: WORTH IT??? Or nahh lol

Did yall go to any Birthing, Labor & Delivery Class that your hoapital offered?? For those who did, please tell me hoq your experience with it was, would you recomend a FTM attending && did it help when you went thru the real deal!??

Im a FTM and I am able to go today but before I attend, Id like to know yalls thoughts and experiences.

I'm doing my classes at a different hospital than the one I'll be delivering at. My hospital charges $30 for one class. The hospital in my town does a 6 week class that covered everything  for free. I would call around and see if anyone offers free ones.

My husband & I attended our classes provided at our hospital. I believe there are both pros/cons:

Pros:
- Bonding time for you & your SO.
- Getting to meet other couples who are in the same journey as you.
- Education (educate yourself as much as you can).

Cons:
- (depending on the instructor) Going overtime. 
- (again depending on the instructor) not being able to hear well.

We thoroughly enjoyed our classes & I actually did apply some things to what we learned from them. I'd say go see for yourself because you can't base what your experience will be from what others experienced for themselves.

I would totally recommend it.  I was excited, but terrified of labor.  I'm not good with pain.  The class really put my mind at ease & I stopped stressing out.

I am so bored at my classes.  They could inform you about stuff in 1 hour instead of 10 hours.

Awesome! Thank you ladies! My SO works over 60 hours a week so classes would be on saturdays, 2 in a row & for me to get him up && be there at 930am until 330pm with a 25 lunch break seems a bit ridiculous..  I thought about going by myself nd well... Even as a FTM I have a doula, home nurse, doctor and a whole family of just women that smother me with information ON TOP OF what I end up reading and studying by myself! So THANK YOU! I ended up not going for the simple dact I found a class outline online and just went over it myself nd honestly found no new information...

My midwives offered group classes as an alternative to individual prenatal appointments. I think it was 9 groups in all and it was very informative.

So people say take it but once you go into labor everything you should do goes out the window because all that pain you're in you just want the baby out of you

We took the classes and while a lot of the information wasn't new, there were enough interesting things that I found it worth it. I think it was more beneficial for my husband. He understands a little more what I'll be going through. We went through pain management techniques & he was very interested in how to help!

Ive heard that its a waste of time and money and many people ive talked to say they dont recommend going its nothing the nurses wont tell u for free wen ur in labor. I didnt go and im glad i didnt im also a ftm and its tru u never knw what might happen although u plan for natural birth

I had a doula that taught my class. She was amazing! She went over a lot of natural techniques like breathing, and different positions to use during labor. She also went over things that our partner could do to help with the pain, and how to labor at home before going to the hospital. I found that part really helpful.
