apparently my belly isn't from the baby?

MIL VENTING part 2:

Just started my second trimester and the last couple weeks I've really started to show. Some days more than others, and my wonderful and just oh so lovely MIL made a comment to my husband and I after I posted this picture to FB that my baby is too small to be showing at all and that I clearly am just faking it for the picture or I've been gaining weight. Because according to her at 13 weeks a baby is only the size of a bottle cap. 
🙄 normally I'm a very quiet person and wouldn't say anything but being pregnant has really made me feisty. I just about called her a moron. First off we're at 13 weeks not 6, second according to US the babe is measuring at 15 weeks. And third, I'm a naturally thin and tall person, of course I'm going to show more than someone like her who's short and stockier. Duh. This woman and her lack of common sense.

Sure, it's not ALL baby since the uterus is below your belly button still, but it's definitely caused by baby. Your body has to rearrange everything that is normally lower in your body to make space for the expanding uterus.

... but that has caused me amusement with my MIL as she's patting my upper belly and I'm thinking "yes, my intestines are very exciting" since that's probably actually under her hand

Screw her. I think you look super cute and it's definitely possible for you to be showing now. It's not all baby in there either. You've got various fluids, placenta, and a growing uterus.

Actually at 13 Weeks is when I can honestly say I felt I had a pregnant belly! I felt like it was not so much gas (for me) and in fact a prego belly!!

Now I'm a first time mother and didn't "pop" hardcore (hard belly all over) until 28-30 Weeks 😊

But at 13 is when I physically felt a change!

Oh my! Apparently she doesn't know that the uterus expands, the extra blood, the plecenta, and the bloating that occurs. It's not all fetus in there causing that bump! Lol.

First off great football team lol! And second you look great and it only looks like you are only growing in the tummy and have a perfect baby bump. Some women show sooner than others it all depends on where your uterus is at in your body. Like for me mine is closer to my back so I don't really get a bump and actually hear the opposite of you. People are always like your baby must not be healthy, why arnt you showing? You are just carrying more in front so don't worry about what your MIL thinks, as long as you and baby are healthy that is all that matters.

Yeah I bloated when I was 13 weeks and it was because of the pregnancy so it is still a bump! No matter what.. I mean I'm 31 weeks and look tiny so i can't say much but..

That would piss me off too. My MIL around 8 weeks claimed I was showing and I was like no not at all but thanks for pointing out that I have gained a little in the tummy area haha. Not the exact same as your situation but I still was like wtf. At that point baby would have been to small. However you look great and you definitely look pregnant not fat at all!!! There's always going to be times where your stomach is bigger some days than others. Keep you're head up you look amazing and just ignore her comment (though I know it's hard)
