For profit?

Anyone create for profit? I'm thinking of creating cross stitches and knitting items for sale on etsy... Does anyone currently do this? If so, do you have any advice for a newbie?

I sell stuff on etsy. It's not regular income my any stretch of the imagination. But one reason for that is my store isn't stocked the way it should be. One of my goals for the year is to get it stocked right.

If you're going to do it, here are my tips:
•sell the best you can do - quality matters!
•price higher than you think you diserve - this is a retail place and if you price at a wholesale level, you will get burnt out and not do it any more.  Plus, people always always under value there own work. Always.• be creative. If you are crocheting owl hats SOMETHING about them needs to be different / better... Color pallet, style, something... Maybe do an animal you can't find on there... Dragon hat or something

• put in a lot of effort into your photos. It's the only thing customers judge your work by. You want to look professional! An iPhone and strategic lighting can be a powerful combo!!! And in creative props and bam! Got you some customers😉😁

Quick example if you ignore that my blanket is half done😉:

These are never going to sell anything. Even though you can see the colors ok and see the stitches well. BORING! So, I look around for some props...

One of these might work but it's hard to tell that the blanket is mint. So I wal outsideSimple. I like it but the color is way off. 
A quick run in Photoshop would fix it, but in case that's more than you want to do...

All of this took me no more than 7 minutes. I would play with more setups if I were really putting this in my store but I wanted to show you the difference photo setups can be. I'm my opinion, it's the #1 thing people neglect. Also, there's plenty of apps for some quick photo editing to brighten your photos.

I sell on Etsy. My shop is Yarnhole, lol I sell knit and crochet items. You can make an income from it, but you have to do it right. I'm still establishing my shop. You have to be patient as it can take a few months for things to take off.
