help w/ the guy I'm seeing 😳

I've been seeing this guy for almost two years. We started hooking up a couple months into our friendship. We kept it on the dl for like six months or so because we worked together, but when I left that job he still tried to keep it that way. After awhile he started telling a few of my old coworkers that we hang out but I don't know how much he's told them. He acts like a boyfriend but I don't feel like I can call him that because I've brought it up in the past and he always told me he wasn't ready (when he and I first started hooking up we'd both just gotten out of relationships. Mine wasn't as serious as his so I wasn't really hurt by mine). I (unexpectedly) met his parents the other day and he introduced me as his friend. I can see now that this probably won't go anywhere but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and how you handled it?
