My waters are leaking.

I woke up yday at 1pm to find my pants wet and I was trickling. I went to the maternity ward at the hospital. The midwife kept saying it was discharge but I know what my discharge feels like. So she examined me and the speculum was coated with discharge and said yeh you've not broken your water. As soon as she left, I coughed and a blob of liquid came out and she said yeh that doesn't look like discharge. I used my always pads so she couldn't really examine that. They gave me 24hrs from when I noticed the trickling to go into labour naturally. It's been 36hrs now and I have not felt a single contraction. I've been having bad gas kind of pain/bowel movement pain but every time I go to the toilet I get nothing. Has any experienced this before? I'm FTM, never had an Braxton hicks and I have no idea what I'm looking out for
