Baby helmet (plagiocephaly/brachycephaly)

Our 7 month old (6 months adjusted) just got his helmet today. We were told to wear it in one hour increments the first day, two hour increments the second day, etc. until he's wearing it 23 hours a day. Well I put it on him and he was fine for a few minutes, then started crying. I tried to stay strong but ended up taking it off after only 20 minutes. I will try to keep it on the entire hour when he wakes up from his nap.

Would you please share your experience with your little one's doc band or star band, especially in the beginning? I knew this wasn't going to be easy but I didn't know I'd feel THIS bad. I'm hoping he'll get used to it quickly!
