When to take a pregnancy test

So, for the first time ever, my boyfriend came in me a few weeks back. I think I was still on my period and I was on the pill for just a month at that time. But I've been extremely hormonal (crying the entire time while watching Fantastic Beasts) and eating my weight in pickles and tortillas... don't ask. I'm a few days late for my period and I'm just wondering if I need to take a pregnancy test now or wait it out a few more days.
