Weaning a toddler?!

Let me start off by saying, it's been a good run but for the sanity of all.. I need to stop breastfeeding my 14 month old.
During the day he's at daycare; i'm at school, so he drinks homo milk. This isn't a problem because since 8 m.o he's been too busy to sit still for a breastfeed anyways, so he's ok with different forms of liquid (formula/milk) from a bottle.
The problem comes in when he wants comfort. For example, when he gets home from daycare he wants bm right away. When he's at home, before naptime he wants bm... and at all/any hours of the night he wants bm, or he will cry and yell. Yes i co-sleep, which also needs be changed, but I feel stopping the breastfeeding first is the right way to go.. Tips/experiences/first steps pleaseeee?! I am losing my mind with this lack of sleep, and I'm sure my son is too.. thanks guys.
