Encouraging Walking?

Question

How did you encourage your little one to start walking? My son is 13 months and will walk along furniture or stand holding on to something but he won't free stand and has yet to take a step not holding on to something. Any tips?

I went to my friends daughters birthday party when my daughter was a few days from being 1 and she saw 4 other 1yo walking and she just decided a day later to start walking haha.

Treats, lol. When I was pretty sure she was ready, I'd get a favorite snack (my daughter loves blueberries) and hold them out while sitting a few feet away. It worked! My daughter's off the charts for height and weight-- not overweight at all, but huge for her age. Let's just say you don't get that way without liking food a lot!
