Coil & bleeding

At the risk of giving too much info, has anyone had an issue with a coil and a partner with a large penis? It feels like he's making it stab me when we get a bit vigorous, plus I get a bit of bleeding afterwards. I can't have hormones and the family planning clinic haven't been much help with another method. Any ideas?
