Should women be expected....

I know in some households women are expected to cook and clean and care for the children. (Ugh). But in a society where many women are also working long hard hours that can be equal to the man's, should she still be expected to have a nice steaming plate of food ready for him, with a sparkly house and smile on her submis...I mean loving face? Or should the work be split up.
