How should this have been handled?

This young man was murdered over the weekend and his killer was released without charges or bail. What do you think about this situation and how do you believe it should have been handled ?

The pic isn't posting but the former NFL player, Joe McKnight, is the victim being discussed.

I just looked up the NYTimes coverage of this story. It seemed to imply that he was released until more evidence was gathered, not that there won't possibly be charges filed at some point.

There's also an odd phenomen of people randomly confessing to high profile cases that had nothing to do with it. It's understandable that they'd want to look more into it first.

All that said, I don't have the greatest faith in law enforcement right now. It's also totally possible that they just dropped the ball here.

This SAME thing happened in my town. This woman was away at work and had her roommate watch her 1 yr old. The roommates BF came over and the baby wouldn't stop crying so he punched the baby and he died:( the BF was arrested immediately and taken to jail, but was released yesterday because of the DA's office told them to. Nobody knows quite why he was released yet but people are going crazy over it

Wasn't the football player being chased by the other guy because he cut him off while driving and he was shot three times, right shoulder, right nipple and hand.... That's murder!!!

I don't care what the "circumstances " might be out there, but anyone who murders another human being should not have dropped charges etc. That's ridiculous and there's no justice.

Really with lack of context and information I'm inclined to call it a homicide, rather than murder.

It's weird though for their to be absolutely no charge. I mean I didn't even know that homicide had a bail with no charge allowance. There's usually always a trial for homicide. Even if the killer had a full defence it would still go to courts.

Very strange. Makes me seriously question the context of the killing and whether or not it made the justice system just want to brush it aside.
