Never wake a sleeping baby or wake for feedings?

Question

Do you let your baby sleep as long as they want or do you wake them for feedings? Day or night?

I've been too afraid to let my son sleep more than 3 hours during the day, mostly because it's usually the late afternoon that he wants to - and it's too close to bedtime.
But I'm wondering if maybe I should just let him sleep when he wants and feed him when he gets up? He's gaining weight like a champ, usually more than an ounce a day. Basically I'm wondering if he'll sleep better or worse at night if I let him sleep when he wants to.

You dont have to wake baby up to eat. They will dream feed. For my 2am and 5am feeding she eats sleeping. I dont have to wake her up. You dont want to go more than one 5 hour stretch a night so your supply doesnt drop (if you are bf). Babies consume 20% of their calories at night too so def feed baby. During the day I wouldnt let it pass 3 hours. Ask your ped but I believe they can get low blood sugar if they go too long in between feedings.

Don't wake baby! If you are breastfeeding I would pump if it's been too long.

Little Miss is 5 weeks Monday, usually during the day she won't go past 3/4 hours between feeds but if on that odd chance she does I don't go past the 5 hour mark.
 During the night she usually goes 4 hours between feeds but if she doesn't wake I don't let her go past the 6 hour mark. But she is bottle fed BM, I exclusively pump for her.

If he's gaining weight I say let him sleep, but don't let him sleep past 5 hours, especially if he's breastfed. You don't want your milk supply to go weird.
