After giving birth do you have to stay in the hospital? If so for how long ?

Depends. 
I delivered natural and could've left after 12 hours, but I had GBS and didn't receive all of my meds so I had to stay 48 hours.

But where I'm from it's 12 if you're doing well.

C sections are 5 days.

Depends really.

I had a vaginal birth, epidural, with zero complications. I was there for 2 days. Would have only been 24 hours but because it was kinda late in the evening they suggested staying until the following morning.

C-section you'll be in longer.

Unmedicated birth with zero issues, you can sometimes leav3 the same day. But I think most hospitals keep a new mom and baby for at least 24 hours

I had a c-section with my son I only stayed for 3 days they wait till u can walk on ur own n have a bowel movement n see how ur scar is healing my sister had natural birth she went home the best night
