Pregnancy unrelated (nail freak accident, help)

I have acrylics and someway somehow I broke my nail along with my REAL nail at a place where it's just way too below where I normally would cut it. I'm calling this a freak accident cause this is honestly so painful and i didn't think it would ever happen. What should I do? Rip it off once and for all and take the pain or cover it with a bandage and just wait to see if it reattaches to the skin?
