Does teething make your baby tired or restless?

Past week it has hit our boy hard. His gums are swollen and we're doing everything in the book. We resort to meds if nothing else soothes him. His nights of sleeping through the night are done. His naps are shorter and sporadic. He just got over being sick for a few months straight and now teething. It's been one thing after another. Please tell me it just isn't us?
