Rashes with the pill

Hey guys. I went on the pill a few months ago and all was going fine until the second pack. After I started, my whole body broke out in this terribly itchy rash. I talked to a doctor and he said it's unlikely that the pills caused it since I had no reaction for a month but it still terrified me because a girl in my family died from a reaction with birth control, so I stopped taking it. Has this happened to anyone else? Did you figure out what it was or what birth controls worked for you?
