Do you feel sympathy towards people dealing with secondary infertility?

I'm just curious. I struggled getting pregnant with my second and my cousin is experiencing this right now. It seems a lot of people are insensitive to the subject and always saying "at least you have one"...yes that's true, but it still hurts when you're trying for a sibling and it's not happening. What do you think?

I'm sure it would suck a little bit, but if I were in that position I'm sure it would suck worse to never be able to conceive a first child

I do.   I'm in that situation now.  It took us 3 years of trying to have our son.  And now we have been trying for 10 months and it still so sad.  It feels like it did the first time.   I know I should be greatful that I have one but it's still disappointing.

Yes, I feel sympathy towards them because here is a couple trying to have family and it's difficult for them. I've seen many kids have parents who don't give a crap about them and the parents don't realize that having a child is a blessing. It is frustrating.

I actually had someone comment on here that I was able to get pregnant four times on pcos and the way it was written was rude. I had two miscarriages and two live births. Doesn't make things any easier when it's that way. And yes I would like more. 
So we have one. Doesn't mean it isn't heartbreaking to constantly see that negative sign on a hpt, or that we don't feel like it's the end of the world after hoping and praying that maybe THIS time it will happen, just to find out it didn't. 
I had a hard time getting pregnant when I was married for my first.  3 years I thought something was wrong with me. I divorced, met someone else and became pregnant with my first while dealing with hpv. The ultrasound showed also a corpus luetem cyst and they thought that was my baby and had surgery planned to remove that ovary and tube the next day. The doctor decided to just keep checking my levels and found them to continue rising and that's how she figured it out. 
My point is, just because we have one, or two, or 5, doesn't mean it isn't as heartbreaking or nerve wracking as it was the first time around. I'm thankful for my children, but to be able to experience the joys of creating life shouldn't have to stop at one.

Absolutely! Especially since you probably have an ideal age gap that just keeps widening!!

I am very sensitive to anyone trying to conceive, going through fertility treatment or the adoption process.  My husband and I were trying to conceive for three years.  After 8 months and completely whacky cycle (which I never had, until we actually started having unprotected sex) I started Clomid to help regulate my cycles so I could time my baby dances more accurately.  I miscarried (blighted ovum) after my third cycle and then tried for three more before asking for a referral to the fertility clinic. I had my consult the following May and began treatment in August.  Had one cycle where we were stalled by a risidual cyst and then 4 failed IUIs, then started IVF cycle in Feb of the following year.  Honestly, the whole experience is a rollar coaster of emotion and anyone willing to go through fertility treatment for a first, second, third child holds the highest esteem in my book.  It's such a difficult thing to do and when the will outweighs the want dive in.  Being sensitive to and feeling sorry for someone are two completely different things.  You can't feel sorry for someone that is strong enough to go theough fertility treatment; however, you can be sympathetic and empathic toward them and show you support and care!

Slightly less for couples with regular infertility since they do have a child or children already, whereas others don't. But I definitely still feel sympathy as I know how it is.

I've got a friend that lost her first baby, she was a full term stillbirth. She now has a healthy 9 year old daughter and has struggled to get pregnant ever since. My heart hurts for her and her family. She wants nothing more than to have another baby, but she has found out it won't happen without an egg donor, and even then, there's a chance it won't happen. We offered to carry a baby for them, but she declined the offer because it's so expensive.

Yes it would be insensitive if you didn't. My aunt had one and wanted another so badly. She tried for 8 YEARS before conceiving her second. It's frustrating and sucky
