Zofran

Sarina
Was prescribed zofran today for severe nausea/vomiting and dehydration. I took one 4mg tablet under my tongue but then read up on it and the stuff Im reading is freaking me out a little. Im 9w4d today and only took one tablet. Never taking it again but does anyone know anything about zofran? Thank you in advance

I took zofran pretty much every day until I gave birth! My son is 8 months old and had zero complications :)

I went to the hospital at 20 weeks for severe dehydration and nausea. They gave me Zofran through an IV and prescribed some to me as well. If it wasn't safe for you or baby, they wouldn't administer it to you. "Reading up" on things will NOT be your best friend, especially if you're relying on Google.😂 I've learned that the hard way.

You're welcome. Google will definitely be your worst enemy when pregnant.😂

One shouldn't be a problem. Most issues happen with much more and chronic use. You might think about requesting Diclegis instead, I've heard good things about it and one of the pregnant doctors I work with is taking it, so must think it's safe.

I have been on Zofran generic (Zofer 4mg) once a day for about 8 weeks now. I started them when i was 8 weeks and in hospital. Im expecting a healthy baby boy. I know without it i would not have survived. At 6 weeks exactly i started being sick..so sick i lost 31lbs in 4 weeks. I know its scary.. i was also stressed after reading bout the tabs. Spoke to my doc about my concerns and when i saw how confindent he was, i relaxed a bit. I dont really have any advice but i do hope you feel better. Im at 16 weeks now and still sick. Good luck! xx

You can ask your doctor about diclegis. That's what my doctor prescribed instead of zofran. I know lots of woman have taken zofran and had healthy babies but if you read that there is a possibility of issues, it's not worth the risk. See if you can swap prescriptions. It's worked wonders for me and I can keep food down now

Most drs don't seem to afraid of zofran unless you're high risk and then it's more toward the first part than middle or last part of pregnancy. I took zofran in the beginning of my pregnancy to then worried but was told as long as I hadn't been on long term use of them during the key forming periods of babies growth we'd be ok. I'm back on zofran now because I've had a hard time recently holding much down even just water. I'm 33 w 1 day

I don't know anything about zofran, but diclegis really helped me! Gave me my appetite back and made me feel normal again. Still throw up occasionally but feel a lot better and much more like myself.

I've been on the zofran dissolvable for about 10 weeks now. I literally might have died without it. Tried every other medicine, 3 trips to er for severe dehydration, and 46 lbs lost total so far. I'm now 18+3 and still have to take it once a day in the morning otherwise I throw up all day. Both my babies are growing right on track and no signs of any problems so far.
