TTC for 2 years/seeking right birth control

We have been TTC for the past two years without luck. I recently discovered that I have a low thyroid and needed medication for it. My doctor recommended that I try the Rx and stop TTC for a minimum of 6 months, to allow my body time to adjust to the Rx. After a lot of thought we both mutually decided that we want to wait about a year before trying again. I was on Depo for 11 years, I loved it though it took a long time to begin ovulating after it. We DO want a baby but the timing is not ideal anymore. I don't want to take something that could delay it long after I stop taking it. Opinions please!
