Friends with benefits crisis !!

So, there's this guy that I've been in love with for a few years, but he doesn't know. He's moved away, but he would still visit to spend time with me. It's been three years since we've met, and earlier this year I admitted my attraction to him. Since March we've been talking on the phone, with an occassional sext. He's gonna be in town in a couple of weeks, and we've made it official that we're going to have sex. I'm just confused on his feelings for me. We've separated, location wise, and he's slept with other women, but he's still stuck on me. Is it normal for men to wait this long? Is this a sign?
