rant here
So I'll start out with my rant bc I need to let it out. You can vent about anything under me 😇 
So last week I went to a family Christmas party and my boyfriend became a topi to talk about. I ended up showing my aunt a picture of him, thinking she would be nice about him. I show her a cute picture of us from HAlloween and a picture from when he took me to the aquarium. Her reaction was to say my name and stare at me.
So then I go back and take a seat on the couch. My aunt ends up giving me a long speech about how relationships should be between people of the same background. She said she was disappointed in me, and that her daughters will only date white men.
Tell me how we're too different to have a relationship when we agree about almost everything. The only differences in background that we have are where we grew up, language spoken in the household, and food we eat.
And anyway, how are relationships between people of the same background better? Lmao her marriage is failing. My parents' marriage already failed. So it's not like they work out any better than my mixed race relationship will.
It makes me mad that she thinks she can tell me how my relationship should be and who I should date when she only sees me once a year.
Mainly I feel bad for my cousin, because she's really smart, but she's growing up believing that it's ok to distance yourself from someone because of the color of their skin. She's growing up believing that there is a difference between people of different races and ethnicities instead of seeing that people are people.
So that was my rant and here are the pictures I showed my aunt.
