shaving before sex

I love sex. & I always want to be smooth down there before... so... I shave. but I hate it. because I always end up with razor bumps and bruises that I can never get rid of. they hurt & they're ugly. but I just learned to get used to it because I can't just NOT shave... so.... I need to know is there something I can do to help this.
