incident w/ my boyfriend

So one day he went in my phone and seen that I was texting this guy (just a friend from work) and he was asking me who he was and stuff like that so I told him that's just a friend. So I didn't know that he got the sides number from out of my phone and started texting him . So we're in the car( I'm driving) and my friend text me and was like why is your man tripping on me and stuff so I got mad of course . So we were arguing about it and when me and my boyfriend got to our destination he stormed off . 

So after I got our food and stuff I got back in the car and noticed that he left his phone in the car, I went through it and I seen he was texting this girl and she said "so when are we gonna hangout cause I miss you and I know you miss me" his response "yeah I miss that throat" so I BLEW up ! I made a whole scene in front of the restaurant, broke his phone and everything 

So I just wanna know did I overreact or what ?
